Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is a 4 years undergraduate degree that teaches students about drug synthesis, dosage formulation, analyzing the chemical nature and preclinical testing of new drugs. Apart from the technical aspects of pharmacy, B Pharmacy also deals with marketing of pharmaceutical products and patenting of new drugs.
B Pharmacy Admission is done on the basis of merit as well as entrance exams such as GPAT for which the eligibility criteria include students having cleared their +2 board exams with mandatory subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics along with 50% aggregate marks.
Eligibility Criteria
A pass in any of the following examinations
- Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually.
- Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations. Provided that a student should complete the age of 17 years of admission to the course. Provided that there shall be reservation of seats for the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes in accordance with the issued by the Central Government/State Government/Union Territory Administration as the case may be from time to time.
III. Students who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Open School education system of the Central Government / State Government institutions are eligible for admission in to B.Pharm Degree Course conducted by this University.
- The candidates who have passed Higher Secondary School Examination under vocational stream are not eligible to join first year of B.Pharmacy degree course.
- The candidate who have passed Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) are also applied as lateral entry (B.Pharm 2nd year)
Career and Jobs
The pharmacy sector offers lots of opportunities to the students after the completion of the course. The students can work in a pharmaceutical company or can practice as a pharmacist. There is huge number of opportunities available for the students in both public and the private sector. You can also work in a government sector. Beside this, you can work in an Abroad.
After completing a graduation degree, you can work at government hospitals, private medical shops & private hospitals/clinics. You can also start your own consultancies & medical shop. The students can work in a pharmaceutical company or can practice as a pharmacist. In Pharmaceutical Company, you can work in departments such as quality control, quality assurance, manufacturing, packing, marketing, production etc. You can also make your career in Pharmaceutical Management & marketing field as a Production Manager, Medical Representative, Area Manager, etc.
